CAHRE, in collaboration with PumaPodcast, is extremely delighted to host a new Edu-series podcast “Hope Beyond Borders: Southeast Asia’s Voice for Displaced Communities“.

In our premiere episode, “Hope in Exile: Imagining Home After Generations” we dive into the complex geometry of belonging. We are bringing together a diverse tapestry of voices to bridge the experiences of Palestinian diaspora communities and displaced Bangsamoro families – two groups bound by a shared history of long-term displacement and an unyielding connection to ancestral lands.

The stories of the Palestinian and Bangsamoro peoples are separated by thousands of miles, yet they are written in the same ink of displacement and unyielding longing.

In just the last few years, the Palestinian landscape has been fundamentally reordered by a continuous Nakba (Catastrophe). Since late 2023, displacement has shifted from a slow creep to a violent surge. Similarly, the Bangsamoro of the southern Philippines have endured a century-long struggle for self-determination that mirrors the Palestinian experience in haunting ways.

What We Will Explore

• The Anatomy of Home: How do you “remember” a place you may have never stepped foot in? We’ll discuss how stories, keys, and cultural rituals transform “Home” from a coordinate on a map into a living, breathing identity.
• Generational Resilience: How the concept of return evolves as it is passed from grandparents to grandchildren, and how hope is sustained when exile stretches from years into decades.
• The Role of Solidarity: Examining the common threads between Palestine and the Bangsamoro, looking at how shared struggles create a global vocabulary of resistance and longing.
• The Role of NGOs: How NGOs support displaced people in moving beyond trauma and recognizing themselves as agents of change through programs that cultivate identity, leadership and the ability to build a hopeful future.

• Prof. Abdullah Tirmizy is the current Interfaith Cooperation Forum (ICF) National Coordinator in the Philippines and a regional facilitator for inter-religious relations. Rooted in his Moro identity, he manages a local Islamic center and leads civic initiatives focused on social justice, peacebuilding, and interfaith dialogue to drive regional transformation and community empowerment.

Speaker 2: Dr. Anwar Radiamoda

• Dr Anwar Radiamoda is a recognized expert in Islamic studies and law serving as the Director of the Shari’ah Center at Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City, Philippines. He is a prominent academic, researcher, and facilitator focusing on Shari’ah justice systems, ADR, and conflict resolution in the BARMM region.
